A Photographer’s Guide to the Galaxy is live

Update September 2026: A Photographer’s Guide to the Galaxy is now part of The Edge of Tomorrow.

I originally launched the project as a separate publication, but photography has never really existed separately from the rest of my work. It’s how I’ve explored the world for most of my adult life, and many of those experiences have shaped the way I think about travel, filmmaking, creativity, technology and everything else I write about here.

So instead of asking you to follow two different publications, I’m bringing it all home.

A Photographer’s Guide to the Galaxy will continue here as a series within The Edge of Tomorrow, alongside travel stories, photo essays and films.

The first guide in its new home is Death Valley, including the story of our stormy February trip, sunrise on the dunes, a rare desert superbloom, Lake Manly, Artists Palette, and the detailed field guide for photographers.

I’ve spent the last 15 years chasing light around the world, and I finally put all my location notes in one place.

A Photographer’s Guide to the Galaxy is my field guide for photographers who want the real info. One location per article. Fully scouted. Honest ratings, real access notes, best times to shoot, what gear actually matters, where to eat, where to stay, and whether it’s worth your time.
